Planning and transport
The idea of planning is to ensure spatial distribution that considers the needs and interests of as many citizens as possible. In order to avoid thoughtless and chaotic human invasion to the natural environment, the planning needs to consider measures for preservation of natural resources, landscapes and natural communities. While more valuable communities are protected by nature conservation legislation, planning should ensure the preservation of less valuable natural areas, which together with valuable areas constitute coherent ecological network.
Today transport has great impact on environment. Transport roads cut into natural landscape, thus crossing animal paths, causing collisions. Transport vehicles cause noise and emit pollutants harmful for living organisms and contributing to the global climatic changes. Therefore natural environment should be considered when planning transport roads and connections.
